Name: Dylan Danvers Nickname(s): Dyl, though only his older brother, Dimitri, calls him this. Age: 18 Height: 5' 11 Weight: 114 lbs. Likes: eating, sleeping, fluffy animals, watching clouds Dislikes: Loud noises, physical labor, country music, fire
Personality: Dylan is EXTREMELY laid-back, to the point of apathy. It's very hard to get him even slightly ruffled over anything. He's also kinda dense, lacking even the vaguest shred of common sense or the ability to think ahead. Despite this, he's a sweet guy and will usually try his hardest to help others out, even if he just makes things worse.
Manner of Speech: Dylan speaks much like the stereotypical surfer, beginning or ending almost every sentence with the words "dude" or "man". He also tends to have some difficulty correctly remembering names, and so will either give people a nickname or horribly butcher their name in an attempt to remember it.
Fighting Style: Dylan will only fight if provoked, or if someone else tells him that they need him to. He'll usually just try to immobilize his opponent by freezing them to the ground, but if he gets struck, he will retaliate with ice-spears, and occasionally by using ice-spikes from the ground below his opponent. He's also been known to try and knock out his opponent by freezing their mouth and nose shut, but he will remove the ice immediately afterward to keep them from dying.
Dylan gets the energy he uses to wield his ice magic from eating. If he's getting hungry, he will usually resort to fighting physically as opposed to risking passing out from hunger. His physical fighting style somewhat resembles breakdancing, mostly involving different types of kicks. He will also use his tail in an attempt to trip his opponent when fighting this way.
Dylan has only been pushed to the point of extreme anger once in his life. When he is, he tends to get very focused and serious. This is also the only time he'll use his weapon, which is a scythe of ice, about 15 feet long. When he uses the scythe, the temperature in the nearby area tends to drop rapidly until it reaches about -10 degrees fahrenheit, at which point, ice spikes will begin forming on any nearby surfaces. Dylan also a has a move that he will only use as an EXTREME last resort. The nature of this move may be revealed later.
History: Dylan, along with his twin brother, Dimitri, was born on a forgotten island far to the North. This island has no name, but it is where the Danvers clan has been born for ages. Rumor has it they came there long ago and befriended the natives, a race of Pygmy Eskimoes, who then shared their knowledge of ice magic with the Danvers. So, for many centuries, tradition has dictated that the firstborn son of each generation would be sent off to train in the ways of ice magic at the age of twelve.
However, although Dimitri was born before Dylan, by the time they had reached the age of twelve, Dimitri was determined to be far too quick-tempered and wild to be trusted with ice magic. As a result, Dylan was sent off to train in his place. This led to a massive amount of resent from Dimitri toward Dylan, and when Dylan had finished his training five years later and returned home, Dimitri fled and was not heard from again.
In the tradition of many Inuit tribes, the Pygmies own many Casinos on the mainland. After a year of relaxing after his training, Dylan was sent off to help work at one of these. After a mere two days, he was kicked out due to his clumsiness and lack of work ethic and has been wandering aroung homeless since.

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
